Joseph R. Dettori, PhD, MPH
Joe is the president and co-founder of Spectrum Research as well as an Army Veteran. He has been involved in clinical and epidemiological research for over 30 years. His practical experience as an injury epidemiologist combined with his MPH in Health Services and PhD in epidemiology from the University of Washington provide Dr. Dettori with insights into the design and implementation of clinical research as well as practical application of evidence to clinical practice. He was responsible for the scientific and technical objectives for the U.S. Army’s injury epidemiology and research activities at the Institute of Environmental Medicine and has extensive experience in implementation and evaluation of intervention studies. He has served on a number of scientific and human-subjects review committees. He has authored numerous technology assessments and evidence-based systematic reviews. Dr. Dettori has been married for 41 years and has raised 4 children. He enjoys the beauty of the Northwest, biking, sports and travel.
Daniel C. Norvell, PhD, MS
Dan is the vice-president and co-founder of Spectrum Research as well as an Army Veteran. He has been involved in clinical trial research, medical writing, and evidence based medicine for over 15 years. He has served as a consultant to several university/academic institutions, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, medical device companies, medical organizations/advocacy groups, and individual physicians in the areas of study design, protocol development, data collection, data analysis and report and medical writing. He has a strong background in research methodology, biostatistics, and data analysis. He also has significant experience in systematic reviews, meta-analysis, and network meta-analysis. Dr. Norvell completed his PhD in Epidemiology at the University of Washington. Dr. Norvell has been married for 22 years and has three children. He enjoys coaching their teams and watching their performances. He is an avid cyclist and runner.
Ian A. Ellis, BS
Ian has been the Clinical Data Manager at Spectrum Research for over seven years. He graduated with his BS in Computer Science and Business from the University of Puget Sound and has developed websites and web tools based on clinical research. He has experience developing, maintaining, and managing databases and data for a variety of organizations and has been involved in many elements of clinical research including study design, data form design, reporting of results (research manuscripts / grant application) and data safety monitoring boards. Ian enjoys casual motorcycle rides and camping excursions and believes that there should be more rooftop bars in Seattle despite the weather.
